How Do You Know When God Is Calling You?
We get asked a lot, “What brought you to Belize?”
And the short answer is: "God called us."
But we know that can sound kind of...vague.
For Amy, it actually started years ago. She’s always loved tropical places, but Belize specifically stayed on her heart for about 20 years. Not in some big dramatic way, just a quiet, steady pull that never really went away. And that’s how God's calling can feel. Not loud. Not flashy. Just… there.
When it finally felt like time to go, it wasn’t quick or easy. It took over a year to make it happen by selling homes, vehicles, most of what we owned, working through visas, and slowly letting go of the life we knew.
Step by step.
We do feel called to a specific kind of work here, but if we zoom out, the bigger picture is actually pretty simple: being willing to follow where God leads and create spaces where people can find hope, peace, and a fresh start.
That’s what God's calling looks like for us. For you, it might look totally different.
A place, a dream, a next step you can’t ignore, or something it’s time to release.
It might not all make sense yet. But if it keeps showing up in your heart, it’s probably worth paying attention to. Sometimes God’s calling isn’t loud, just steady, and that is enough to step out in faith.
